I’ll be there to watch (again) and answer questions. Come join these badass people fighting for worker rights in Florida–not easy!

Presented by the Committee for Change at Walmart and Central Florida Jobs with Justice.

Friday, May 9th, 8PM

CWA: 2220 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, Florida

Come hang out with the community as we watch former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich indict the US’s growing wealth gap in the award winning Inequality For All. There will be a discussion after the film around the local effects of income inequality in Central Florida.

Oh, and we will have snacks and drinks (beer and wine too!) for FREE. We hope to see you there.

The Self Attribution Fallacy

By George Monbiot. Published in the Guardian 8th November 2011

The claims that the ultra-rich 1% make for themselves – that they are possessed of unique intelligence or creativity or drive – are examples of the self-attribution fallacy. This means crediting yourself with outcomes for which you weren’t responsible. Many of those who are rich today got there because they were able to capture certain jobs. At the very expensive private college where i work, i just saw a sorority girl wearing a “Pledge 2014” t-shirt with the Hunger Games Mockingjay insignia on front and on the back: “May the odds be ever in your favor” slogan!?
I didn’t say anything but was screaming on the inside:
The odds ARE ever in your favor girl!
You are a citizen of the Capital, not the districts!
The metaphor is clearly lost sigh.

We know that The US, and especially Republicans including President Reagan and Donald Rumsfeld among others, helped the racist South African Apartheid regime and tried to stop the global movement to dismantle it. But Here are some more ugly facts. At the very least this should make Americans think about their role in defending “freedom” and “liberty” then and, more importantly, NOW.
