Hugo Chavez was a great man.

Like all great men he was a complicated man in a complicated situation. But he created the first democracy in Latin America and even enabled the wave of liberty and justice beyond his own Venezuela. Also, he was the first indigenous leader to overcome the racist colonial and postcolonial regimes in the region for 500+ years since the Spanish conquest.

John Lock explained it well in the 1700s: “Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely” Adam Smith also knew that the market system (aka capitalism) REQUIRES a reasonably fair distribution of wealth to function & survive. What we have now is a complete sham.
